Welcome to Pointalize (“we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information in connection with our website, mobile application, and services (collectively, the “Services”). By using the Services, you agree to the practices described here.
1) What does this policy cover?
This policy covers personal information processed by Pointalize through our website, Pointalize mobile application, emails, and any tools or features we operate. It does not cover third-party websites, apps, or services that we do not control, even if they link to or from our Services.
2) Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account & profile data: Email address (used for secure Magic Link authentication), internal User IDs, and any information submit via contact forms.
- Financial & Wallet Data (App): Information about the credit cards you add to your wallet, card approval statuses, approval dates, and your progress toward spending bonuses.
- Marketing preferences: Opt-ins or opt-outs to newsletters and push notification alerts.
- Content you submit: Inquiries, feedback, or support requests.
Information collected automatically
- Location Data (App): With your permission, we collect precise or coarse location data to provide nearby merchant recommendations. If you grant “Always” permission, this may include background location updates.
- Motion & Fitness Data (App): We may access device motion sensors to optimize battery life by triggering location updates primarily when you are moving.
- Device & Usage data: IP address, device model, operating system, unique device identifiers (e.g., FCM tokens for push notifications), browser type, pages viewed, and app interaction data.
- Diagnostics: We automatically collect crash logs and performance metrics (via Firebase) to help us fix bugs and improve stability.
- Cookies & similar tech: Pixels, local storage, and tags used to remember settings and analyze traffic.
Information from third parties
- Analytics & measurement partners: Aggregated reports about site traffic, app engagement, and user retention.
- Advertising & affiliate partners: De-identified data to track referral performance when you apply for a card via our links.
3) Where we get your information
We obtain information directly from you, automatically through your use of the Services (website and app), and from service providers that assist with location mapping (e.g., Radar), analytics, and advertising.
4) How we use your information
- Provide and improve the Services: Authenticate accounts, sync wallet data, operate features, and troubleshoot issues.
- Location-Based Personalization: Recommend specific credit cards based on the merchant category of your current location.
- Communicate with you: Send Magic Links, push notifications (e.g., card expiry alerts), and newsletters (where permitted).
- Analytics and performance: Measure traffic, diagnose app crashes, and understand usage trends.
- Safety, security, and legal: Detect fraud, enforce our terms, and comply with applicable law.
Legal bases (EEA/UK/Switzerland): We process personal data where necessary to perform a contract with you, with your consent, to comply with legal obligations, or for our legitimate interests (e.g., improving the Services and ensuring security) balanced against your rights.
7) Advertising, Analytics & Affiliate Disclosure
To support our operations, Pointalize participates in affiliate marketing programs. When you click on an affiliate link on our website or in our app, you will be directed to a third-party partner’s site. These partners may use cookies and other tracking technologies to verify referrals and attribute any resulting purchases or sign-ups to us.
This tracking is handled by the third party, and we do not control their use of this technology or the data they collect. 8) Data retention
We retain information for as long as needed to provide the Services (e.g., as long as your account is active), comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. If you delete your account via the app, we will delete your personal wallet data.
9) How we protect your information
We use organizational and technical safeguards, including secure local storage and encrypted transmission, designed to protect personal information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
10) International data transfers
Your information may be processed in countries other than your own (primarily the United States). Where applicable, we use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers and take steps to protect your information in accordance with this policy.
11) Children’s privacy
Our Services are not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us so we can delete it.
12) Your privacy rights

13) Your choices & controls
- Account Deletion: You can delete your account and all wallet data directly within the mobile app settings.
- Location & Motion Permissions: You can revoke location and motion permissions at any time via your mobile device settings.
- Push Notifications: You can manage notification types in the app or disable them entirely in system settings.
- Marketing emails: You can unsubscribe using the link in our emails.
- Browser settings: Block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
14) Do Not Track
Some browsers or devices offer “Do Not Track” signals. There is no industry standard for responding to these signals and we do not respond to them at this time. We will update this policy if standards evolve.
15) Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new effective date. Material changes will be highlighted on this page or communicated by other appropriate means (e.g., in-app notice).
